My name is André Castro. I am a media designer, with a background in sound art and experimental music, and a practice at the intersection art, technology and education. In recent years my practice has been focused in designing custom automated audiovisual systems for art-works and exhibitions; Working in close dialogue with artists and institutions, I try to offer the reliable solutions that meet the requirements of work, no matter unconventional. My past research has focused on online archives, hybrid publishing, underground digital libraries and the intersection between technology and design processes.

I work as a tutor at the Experimental Publishing path of the Media Design and Communication MA at the Piet Zwart Institute and the Willem de Kooning Academy - Publication Station. Often collaborate with artists and designers on the development custom infrastructures for installations and publications.

I completed the Master's program of Media Design and Communication at the Piet Zwart Institute, and graduated in 2007 from the Sonic Arts BA program at Middlesex University.
