Hello, my name is André Castro. I am a media designer working within art & technology, and with a background in sound arts. In addition I work part-time as a tutor at the [https://www.pzwart.nl/experimental-publishing/ Experimental Publishing MA] (Piet Zwart Institute) and Python software developer.
André Castro works as a software engineer at [https://www.tib.eu/ German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB),] dedicated to the implementation and development of semantic knowledge management systems.


My practice focuses on designing custom automated audiovisual systems for artworks and exhibitions. Working in close dialogue with artists and institutions, I try to offer reliable solutions that meet the requirements of the work, regardless of how unconventional.
Since 2011 he worked at intersection art, technology and education, with a focus on online archives, hybrid publishing and experimental interfaces. During 2019 André worked a backend Python web-developer at TVT/DMC. And between 2012 and 2020 André was a technical tutor at the [https://www.pzwart.nl/ Piet Zwart Institute] (Master of Media Design and later [https://www.xpub.nl/ Experimental Publishing]) and [https://www.wdka.nl/ Willem de Kooning Academy]'s Publication Station. In parallel he developed a practice in collaboration with artists and designers, developing custom technical infrastructures for installations and publications.
André completed the Master of Media Design and Communication at the Piet Zwart Institute, and graduated in 2007 from the Sonic Arts BA program at Middlesex University.

André Castro

André Castro works as a software engineer at German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB), dedicated to the implementation and development of semantic knowledge management systems.

Since 2011 he worked at intersection art, technology and education, with a focus on online archives, hybrid publishing and experimental interfaces.
